HEADS CONTINUE TO ROLL IN HEALTH INSURANCE SCAM

A third suspect in the huge public health insurance fraud scheme in South Jersey pleaded guilty in court earlier today.  37 year old Stephen Urbanski of Marlton appeared before a federal judge and admitted his role in the prescription drug ring.  Two other suspects may appear in court later today. ##

REPORT: NJ GAVE LOANS TO SANDY VICTIMS, FEDS WANT MONEY BACK

A new report suggests that New Jersey inappropriately provided $1 million in home loans to Hurricane Sandy victims, and the federal government wants that money back.  The feds believe 21 home buyers were not qualified to get the assistance due to income limits and now it will ask New Jersey to refund the money. ##

POSTPONED: CREST POSTPONES 2U CONCERT FOR TONIGHT

The threat of heavy rain this evening has again postponed the 2U concert in Wildwood Crest this evening.  The U2 tribute band is now scheduled to perform on Thursday, August 31st at Centennial Park.  “Don’t Call Me Francis” is still scheduled to play Saturday evening. ##

Two local college football programs will practice separately in Ocean City this weekend.  Villanova will practice for 90 minutes today at Carey Stadium, starting at 10:30am.  On Saturday, Rowan University will hold its practice at the same stadium, starting at 10am. ##

Wildwood High School has a new athletic director.  According to a post on the school’s social media page, Michael Hickman has been named the new Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at the school.  Hickman was approved during this week’s Board of Education meeting. ##

JUDGE: NEW JERSEY CAN TAKE BEACH PROPERTY TO BUILD RESILIENCY

A judge has ruled that yes, New Jersey can condemn properties in two New Jersey beach communities to widen the beach and build resilient dunes.  A Superior Court judge ruled in favor of the state in connection with 60 properties in question in both Bay Head and Mantalooking.  NJDEP Commissioner Bob Martin hailed Thursday’s decision. DOUBLE MURDER SUICIDE REPORTED IN LACEY TOWNSHIP

A Lacey Township man killed his seven year old son, wife, and family dog before taking his own life on Thursday.  Authorities say the killings took place in a residential neighborhood; the 51 year old suspect had self-inflicted injuries and later died at a hospital. ##

MIDDLE TWP. POLICE: ROUTE 9 OPEN AGAIN AFTER ACCIDENT

Middle Township Police announced that a section of Route 9 that was closed due to a motor vehicle accident has since re-opened.  An early morning accident resulted in a motor vehicle smashing into a utility pole.  The pole needed to be replaced before traffic was allowed again on the highway in Cape May Court House.
