NEW JITNEY BILL MAY REQUIRE REGISTRATION IN COMMUNITIES

A new bill has been approved by the State Assembly that would require the owners of Jitney buses to register in each town for which they operate.  Some towns including Avalon require Jitney bus drivers to pass background checks and register with the Borough, while some other municipalities where Jitneys operate do not. ##

KAUFFMAN THREATENED TO KILL HIMSELF DURING STANDOFF

Dr. James Kauffman of Atlantic County threatened to shoot himself with a small handgun during a standoff with agents at his office and home.  Authorities say they were able to talk Kauffman into dropping the gun.  Kauffman’s wife was murdered five years ago; agents were executing search warrants Tuesday morning when the confrontation ensued. ##
