DIRECTOR OF LOCAL HOUSING AUTHORITY FACES ONE YEAR IN PRISON

The executive director of the Ocean City Housing Authority could face one year in prison for using authority funds to purchase gift cards for her family.  54 year old Alesia Watson of Galloway Township allegedly bought 69 MasterCard gift cards for personal use.  She pleaded guilty to a count of embezzlement. ##

HAMMONTON MAN SHOT AND KILLED IN ATLANTIC CITY

A 31 year old man from Hammonton was shot and killed in Atlantic City Friday night.  Atlantic County authorities say David Blackwell Jr. was shot on North Virginia Avenue.  He was pronounced dead less than two hours later; no suspects are in custody. ##

“TAMAROA” TO BE SUNK AS ARTIFICIAL REEF ON WEDNESDAY

Coast Guard cutter ‘Tamaroa” will be sunk this Wednesday and become part of the artificial reef system near the Jersey Shore.  The ship is now scheduled to be sunk after serving in World War II and becoming popular as part of the rescue in the movie “Perfect Storm”. ##

REPORT: GASKILL PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO SEX ASSAULT CHARGES

A 37 year old man who works in the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault.  The Press of Atlantic City reports that Sgt. Jay H. Gaskill III of Middle Township pleaded innocent to the charges lodged against him.  A status conference will be held in a month. ##
