COAST GUARD SHIP WON’T BE SUNK TUESDAY, ROUGH SEAS

A Coast Guard cutter that was made famous during the movie “The Perfect Storm” will not be sunk off the coast of Cape May as planned on Tuesday.  The “Tamaroa” will be sunk later this week or next due to rough seas.  It’s being intentionally sunk to be used as an artificial reef. ##

REPORT: UPPER TOWNSHIP CHANGES PLANS, TWO BOAT RAMPS TO BE FREE

Upper Township officials have decided to keep two boat ramps in Strathmere free of charge.  The Upper Township Gazette reports that there will be no fees charged at a new boat ramp on Bayview Drive, or at an existing boat ramp at Taylor Avenue.  Officials do not believe there is adequate room to staff attendants. FORMER AC COUNCILMAN SENTENCED TO SIX MONTHS IN PRISON

It’s six months in prison for former Atlantic City Councilman John Schultz.  He received the prison term on Monday in a federal court for his role in a scheme to avoid paying over $100,000 in taxes to the IRS.  Schultz is 74 years old and took responsibility for the crime. ##

ROUTE 50 BRIDGE TO BE CLOSED TUESDAY MORNING

The Route 50 bridge in Tuckahoe will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic starting early Tuesday morning.  State officials announced that the bridge will remain closed to traffic in both directions until Friday morning, at around 6:00am.  Motorists must follow detours set up for truck traffic. ##

SECOND CLOSURE FOR OCEAN CITY BRIDGE MONDAY NIGHT

There will be a second overnight closure of the Roosevelt Boulevard Bridge in Ocean City Monday night into Tuesday.  City officials say the bridge will be shut down Monday at 10am and reopen by sunrise the following day so new concrete can be poured on the span. ##

MAYS LANDING MAN KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

A 26 year old Mays Landing man was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday night.  Hamilton Township Police say Jefrey Ramirez lost control of his motorcycle on Babcock Road  near the George L. Hess school and crashed.  Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene. ##

STONE HARBOR SET TO ADOPT 2017 MUNICIPAL BUDGET
