NO DELAY IN MENENDEZ TRIAL FOR SENATE VOTES

There will be no delay in the corruption trial involving New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez, even for key voting sessions in Washington.  A judge tossed out Menendez’s request to have the trial stalled so he could head to Washington for important votes.  Menendez’ trial is expected to begin September 6th. ##

STATE TROOPER HITS UTILITY POLE IN BUENA

A New Jersey State Trooper drove his car off a road and struck a utility pole Thursday night in Buena.  Officials say the trooper was driving a marked patrol car when he ran off Wheat Road and hit the pole; he was not injured.  The crash is under investigation. ##

NJ BEACH TOWN SUSPENDS BEACH/PARKING FEES, ASKS FOR DONATION FOR “HARVEY”

The mayor of one New Jersey beach town has suspended beach and parking fees for Labor Day weekend and instead is encouraging visitors to donate to Hurricane Harvey victims.  Officials in Belmar made the decision to suspend the fees and intends to create a “sister city” relationship with the town of Rockport, Texas. ##

Governor Christie’s approval numbers are downright horrible, if a new poll released today is to be believed.  A new Rutgers-Eagleton poll released Thursday give Christie a 16 percent approval rating; the same poll says half of the republican voters in New Jersey also disapprove of the job he’s going as governor. ##
